Miss Cafe: A Dream Brewed in Seattle

Miss Cafe is the culmination of Meral's passionate journey from Turkey to Seattle's Pike Place Market. It's a beautiful blend of childhood dreams, hard work, and deepfamily love. Every item served reflects warmth, tradition, and homemade goodness. Miss Cafe is truly a special place where Meral's personal story and cultural heritage perfectly merge in Seattle.

Meet Meral

In 2004, in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye, Meral was inspired by Pour Your Heart Into It by Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz. It reignited her childhood dream of owning a café.

After moving to Seattle in 2015 through the green card lottery, Meral discovered the charm of Pike Place Market. On a spontaneous visit, her daughter told the market manager about her dream café. That conversation became a turning point.

From cooking flatbreads and kadayif for thousands in Türkiye to sharing cheese-stuffed pides and lahmacun in Seattle, her story is one of passion, resilience, and heritage.

My Journey: From a Dreamer to a Café Owner in Seattle

Ever since I was a little girl, I loved dreaming. Growing up in a modest two-story home with a small garden, I would watch my parents—my father, a schoolteacher with limited income, and my mother, a homemaker with dreams of her own—try to improve our home little by little. I often found myself imagining how I would change things if I had the means: new walls, new ceilings, beautiful furniture.

My dreams didn’t stop there. I used to watch other lives and think, “One day, I want to send my children to study in America.” I didn’t know exactly what business I wanted to do, but I always knew I would create something of my own.

Years later, I read a book about Starbucks and quietly made a prayer:

“God, please give me a place near Starbucks, so I can create something just as special in my own way.”

Not long after, I applied for the Green Card lottery—and won. My daughters moved to the U.S. first for school. Later, my husband and I joined them, choosing Seattle for its welcoming community.

One day, I told my daughter: “Let’s go to Pike Place Market. I had a dream about starting something here.”We didn’t have an appointment, but we walked in. A lovely woman named Jessica came out to meet us, and that unexpected visit became the start of our café journey.

Today, we are proud owners of Miss Kafe, where we bring warmth, tradition, and homemade flavors to every plate we serve.

This café is more than a business — it’s the fulfillment of childhood dreams, hard work, and family love.
